Festival and Camping Hampers
Festival season has arrived! As
we settle into the heat it’s time to start planning our sunny expeditions, and
if you’re heading out camping for a major festival, it’s so important to make
sure you’ve got everything you need ahead of time, to save you a bit of money
and stress once you’re there.
When packing for a few days of
camping, you’ll want to make sure that everything is compact, easy to
transport, and as light as possible, without skimping out on the essentials. If
you’re bringing food and drink, you’ve got to make sure you have the right gear
to ensure everything stays fresh and cool for longer.
Let’s explore some of the most important items
when putting together the ultimate festival hamper or camping picnic basket!
The Essentials
We’ll start by getting the obvious ones out of the way! The
first thing that comes to mind when you think about camping is probably a tent.
You’ll want a tent that’s easy to pitch, and just as easy to pack away at the
end of the trip. After an exhausting, action-packed festival, the last thing
you want is an unruly tent to slow you down, so look for easy-to-use,
easy-to-transport options. While you don’t want your tent to be too heavy or
big to carry, you still want to make sure you choose one that offers a good
amount of space for your bags, camping hamper, and so on.
The same goes for your sleeping bag and sleeping mat – look
for compact options that can be rolled and packed away with ease. If you’re
worried about comfort, you could go for an inflatable air mattress, but keep in
mind these are a little higher maintenance and take up a little more space –
and you’ll need to bring an air pump along too.
Other essentials include the
basics like your toothbrush and toothpaste, a water bottle, loo roll, sun
screen, and a torch. If you’re spending a few days outdoors, you might want to
bring a portable charger with you too.
Embracing nature is a wonderful
thing – but to do it right, it’s important to respect the land you’re camping
on – and if you’re at a festival, respect the staff who clean up after you!
Many festivals, like Glastonbury, encourage attendees to be mindful of their
waste, and with that in mind, it helps to bring some bin bags to ensure you’re
not leaving any rubbish behind once you pack up and head home.
It’s also good to have a few
first aid bits at hand, like bandages, plasters, and paracetamol. Insect
repellent and hand sanitiser should also be included in your ultimate camping
hamper!
Keeping It Dry
In addition to your tent and
camping mat, you might also want to bring a picnic blanket with
you, which can double as a tent carpet to keep things extra clean and comfy.
Your picnic blanket will be a trusty companion throughout your trip. No matter
what the weather, festivals tend to get pretty muddy, and having a well-sized, insulated
picnic blanket ensures that you can stay dry, clean and warm even when the
ground beneath you is the opposite.
A towel is another must! Try to
find a more compact, lightweight towel designed specifically for camping,
because a full-sized bath towel might take up quite a bit of space and could
weigh you down when it’s wet.
Keeping It Clean
If
you’re more on the glamping side, and you’ll have access to a shower, bringing
some shampoo and conditioner can be a lifesaver. While it’s by no means vital,
being able to wash your hair will help ensure you feel as fresh and clean as
possible as you brave a few days of chaos under the sun. From glitter to mud to
spilt drinks and beyond, chances are things will get a tad messy, so having
some shampoo, conditioner and body wash at hand means you can at the very least
freshen up after a long day, or start your day feeling spritely and clean. Our pamper hampers offer
everything you need to stay fresh while you’re out adventuring. From luxurious
shampoos and conditioners to indulgent soaps and body scrubs, a pamper hamper has
everything you need to stay feeling good throughout your adventure.
Keeping It Fresh
Now, on to the most exciting part
of your festival hamper, the food and drink!
For longer trips, make sure
you’re bringing plenty of non-perishable snacks to keep you going, like trail
mix, seeds, nuts, granola bars, and dehydrated fruit. If you’re just going for
the weekend, you can explore a few more options as you won’t need to worry so
much about things going off. Fresh fruit is a
great choice for quick getaways. Easy, tasty snacks like biscuits, chocolate
bars and crisps are great to have at-hand whether you’re festival-bound or
camping in the wild.
For festivals, we think the Classic
Gin & Tonic Lover’s hamper is a great shout! The Tetbury
Hamper is another great choice, coming with a bottle of prosecco, as well
as the Clarendon
Hamper. The Large Treats & Snack Share Basket covers all bases with
plenty of long-lasting, tasty bites for a large group, including olives, cheese
twists, paté, crisps, biscuits, shortbread, chocolates, and more!
Our Wine Cases are a
fantastic way to get your booze sorted too!
Keeping It Cool
Another important task is making sure
your beers, mixers, and other beverages stay cool for longer. At festivals, you
might be able to ask a nearby food truck for some ice to keep them cool. You
should also make sure you try and keep your drinks in the shade as much as
possible, and you can also wrap bottles in a wet towel to prevent them from
warming up too much. A cooler is of course a great solution – especially in
bigger groups (so you can take turns carrying it!). Many of our camping picnic
baskets come with a dedicated cool bag, as well as all the other bits and
pieces to make your camping meals a breeze.
Festival Food Must-Haves
No matter what treats you bring
with you, it’s important to make sure you’ve got an easy and efficient way to
pack them, carry them, and of course, eat them. Disposable plastic plates, cups
and cutlery may seem like the most convenient option, but there are far less wasteful
solutions that can add a bit of extra luxury to your trip. Our 6-person
Luxury Fitted Picnic Basket is the perfect choice for a festival hamper. It
includes a fluffy polar fleece blanket, stainless steel cutlery, china teacups,
porcelain plates and crisp cotton napkins. There’s a flask for tea and coffee
and a cooler bag to ensure your sandwiches arrive in perfect condition, and
there’s even a corkscrew for that essential bottle of wine! You’ll be able
to make use of this gorgeous camping hamper basket and all of its convenient
extras for many years to come, a much more sustainable choice compared to
opting for single-use products.
